What Is Meditation?
It is actually quite difficult to define meditation - it means different things in different traditions and to different people. Simply put, meditation is a tool by which we can transform the mind. So really, meditation is a practice where an individual uses certain techniques - such as Mindfulness or focussing on a particular object - to train their focus and awareness to induce a calm, relaxed state. Meditation encourages a heightened state of awareness, promotes clarity and increases focus.

But where to begin? It can be completely overwhelming to start meditating, there are so many different techniques and methodologies out there all claiming to be the right one. Should you focus on the breath? Listen to a guided meditation? Do a visualisation? Should you try to have no thoughts? Or focus on just one thought? And then why are you meditating?
